By downloading and using the Les Copains application, you agree to these Terms of Use. Please read them carefully before using the service.

Article 1 — Acceptance of Terms

Use of the Les Copains mobile application (hereinafter "the Application") implies full and unconditional acceptance of these Terms of Use. If you do not accept these terms, you must stop using the Application and uninstall it.

These Terms may be amended at any time. You will be notified of significant changes via the Application. Your continued use of the Application after notification constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

Article 2 — Description of the Service

Les Copains is a mobile application (iOS and Android) that allows you to:

Discover geolocated dog-friendly walking spots
Start geolocated walks and interact in real time with other users on site
Create a profile for your dog and find "copains" (other dogs)
Share community alerts (hazards, foxtails, lost dogs, etc.)
Access walk statistics and badges

The service is provided free of charge. Premium features may be introduced in the future, at which point the Terms will be updated accordingly.

Article 3 — Account Creation and Minimum Age

Registration is open to anyone aged at least 13 years old. By registering, you confirm that you meet the age requirement.

For users aged 13 to 15, prior consent from a parent or legal guardian is required under the GDPR (Article 8).

When creating your account, you agree to:

Provide accurate, complete and up-to-date information
Keep your login credentials confidential
Notify us immediately of any unauthorised access to your account
Create only one personal account

You are solely responsible for all activity carried out from your account.

Article 4 — Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Application in a lawful, respectful manner consistent with these Terms. The following are strictly prohibited:

Prohibited conduct:

Posting false or misleading community alerts (fake foxtail warnings, fake lost dogs, etc.)
Harassing, threatening, insulting or intimidating other users
Impersonating another person or animal
Posting unlawful, obscene, defamatory, hateful or rights-infringing content
Using the Application for commercial purposes without prior authorisation
Attempting to circumvent the Application's security measures
Extracting, copying or reusing community data (scraping)
Using bots or automated scripts to interact with the Application
Sharing other users' content without their consent

Any breach may result in the suspension or permanent deletion of your account, without prejudice to any legal proceedings.

Article 5 — User Content

The Application allows you to post content (dog photos, spot photos, chat messages, community alerts). By posting this content, you:

Warrant that you own the rights to the content or have the necessary permissions
Warrant that the content does not infringe any third-party rights (image rights, copyright, etc.)
Grant Les Copains a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, reproduce, display and distribute this content, solely for the purpose of providing and improving the service

This licence ends when you delete your content or your account, subject to the retention periods set out in our Privacy Policy.

You retain full intellectual property rights over your content. Les Copains claims no ownership over content you post.

Article 6 — Intellectual Property

The Application, its design, source code, logos, trademarks, text and all graphic elements are the exclusive property of Les Copains and are protected by French and international intellectual property law.

Any reproduction, representation, modification, publication or adaptation of all or part of the Application, without prior written authorisation from Les Copains, is strictly prohibited.

Les Copains grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to use the Application for strictly personal and non-commercial purposes.

Article 7 — Limitation of Liability

Important points regarding walks:

Les Copains is a networking and information tool. The Application is not responsible for accidents, injuries, conflicts between animals or property damage occurring during walks.
Information about spots (accessibility, presence of hazards, etc.) is provided by the community and may be inaccurate or out of date. You remain solely responsible for assessing the safety of a location before taking your dog there.
Community alerts (foxtails, poison, etc.) are reported by users. Les Copains cannot guarantee their accuracy or currency. They serve as a prompt for vigilance, not a certainty.
Dog profiles are self-declared. Les Copains cannot verify the accuracy of information regarding a dog's temperament, breed or vaccinations.

Les Copains shall not be held liable for any indirect damage, data loss, service interruption, or harm resulting from the use of or inability to use the Application.

In the event of a technical malfunction, data may be temporarily unavailable. Les Copains strives to maintain maximum availability but does not guarantee uninterrupted service.

Article 8 — Reporting Inappropriate Content

If you encounter content or behaviour that violates these Terms, you can report it via the in-app reporting feature or by email at copainsapp@gmail.com.

Les Copains commits to handling reports as promptly as possible and taking appropriate action.

Article 9 — Account Suspension and Deletion

Les Copains reserves the right to suspend or delete any account:

In the event of a breach of these Terms
In the event of prolonged inactivity (more than 24 months)
At the user's request
In the event of service closure

In the event of suspension for a Terms violation, you will be notified by email. You may contest the decision by contacting copainsapp@gmail.com within 14 days.

You may delete your account at any time from the Application's Settings. Deletion results in the erasure of your personal data within the timeframes set out in our Privacy Policy.

Article 10 — Service Availability

Les Copains is an independent application provided free of charge. We strive to keep the service available but do not guarantee:

24/7 availability without interruption
The absence of bugs or errors
Long-term continuity of the service (see Article 11)

Article 11 — Evolution and Discontinuation of the Service

Les Copains may evolve, modify or discontinue all or part of the service at any time. In the event of definitive discontinuation, you will be informed with a minimum notice of 30 days by email and via the Application, so that you may retrieve your data.

Article 12 — Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by French law. In the event of a dispute relating to the interpretation or performance of these Terms, and in the absence of amicable resolution within 30 days, the dispute shall be submitted to the competent courts of Paris (France).

In accordance with Article L. 612-1 of the French Consumer Code, you may refer to a consumer mediator in the event of an unresolved dispute.

Article 13 — Miscellaneous

If any provision of these Terms is found to be null or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain valid and enforceable. The failure of Les Copains to enforce any provision of the Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.
